Mark 37
I hope by posting this someone will be able to help. I'm looking for BR rail grey as used in the 1970-80's coaching stock. I have found Railmatch 206 rail grey but this is an enamel paint (which I prefer working with) but all my other colours are acrylics and I'd rather not mix mediums. Can someone recommend the correct colour in acrylic please? Thanks, Mark
Ressaldar
Hi Mark, the Railmatch ref is 2206 for the acrylic version - as listed in the Squires catalogue. cheers Mike

I don't know why people have adopted this attitude. I have been spraying enamel over acrylic and vice versa for many years and never had a problem. Mark 37
Everyone to thier own but I've been using model paints for thirty odd years on different subjects and nearly always had a reaction when mixing, particularly when using acrylics over enamels. I'd rather not paint an item and have to strip and re-do. Mark
Platform 1
In case this helps, I've been trying to match Vallejo acrylics to BR Rail blue and grey this week. I realise it's subjective, but their 70.883 Silver Grey seems a good match to recent Bachmann coaches. For spraying, you'd need to thin with acrylic thinners, but it covers nicely when brushed. I'll be publishing a blog entry later about my colour matching trials/tribulations...

They also sell a very good airbrush cleaner for acrylic paints that is worth every penny.
