RMweb Gold PhilH Posted January 30, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 30, 2014 As title, a question asked in another place. Date is supposedly summer 2013, Marchwood MOD site.
RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted January 30, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 30, 2014 Interesting. They look like Southern class 377s, but I see no reason why they are there...they don't look to be stored (and aren't the duel voltage sets so cannot be sets being handed over betrween FCC and Southern). RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted January 30, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 30, 2014 By way of an update... This very picture appeared in this august forumback in 2009... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=47815 The simple answer is this picture was not taken in 2013, more like 2003/4. These were stored 377s ready for commissioning (hence the prestine roofs)...
RMweb Gold PhilH Posted January 30, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 30, 2014 Ah, mystery solved. looks like someone put a 1 in the date which shouldn't have been there. Thank you.

Don't the mapping companies update their online imagery with current copyright year regardless of when the images were made? Google maps shows a vehicle in my driveway which I haven't owned for quite some time now!!
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted January 31, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 31, 2014 Don't the mapping companies update their online imagery with current copyright year regardless of when the images were made? Google maps shows a vehicle in my driveway which I haven't owned for quite some time now!! Snap - for our house it shows a car I sold nearly 5 years ago, our cat we had to have put to sleep back in the summer, and the total lack of a proper gate or gate piers. I get the impression that their camera car doesn't come round our way very often (oh and it's a nice sunny day - very unusual)
Pete 75C
Google maps shows a vehicle in my driveway which I haven't owned for quite some time now!! Google Images shows a car on my drive that I've never owned. As I'm away from home a fair bit, I might need to have a word with my wife... Edit: as we've only been in the house 2 years, perhaps I'm worrying about nothing...
RMweb Premium keefer Posted February 1, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 1, 2014 the birds eye satellite view can be well out of date. my present house is on a large development built in 2004-5 but on Google there's still a big field! Kenton
Not all are out of date - they overflew us last summer and already have our new extension included along with the newly landscaped garden, completed in March, and me enjoying the sun probably reading an MRJ (but can't quite get the magnification to be certain) ... perhaps a good thing for the peace of mind of all global snoopers. I'm reliably informed that Google will redact any part of an image that you complain about privacy, that is once they have collected them for some utube compilation. Don't forget Big Brother is watching.

RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted June 27, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 27, 2014 I can confirm that at one point Bombardier at Derby were building complete 377's (I believe these were in the 377140 through to 160 series) faster than they could be commissioned for service so some were stored at Marchwood whilst others were also stored at the old West Worthing Carriage Sheds. I do recall one of the Marchwood ones was 377140. It spent so long stored prior to entering service that it missed out on the fleet wide application of the Southern logos and ran without them for many years until it had a refurbishment just last year.
