Dapol OO Class 150 - improvements?

Recommended Posts

How would you rate this model?

It's just that to me, it looks as if the windows are unusually large, and the bogies are clunky.  Is this actually a fair representation?

If not, what improvements can I make to the model?  Has anyone had experience with improving one of these models?

Cheers.

Nope, that he ain't!

I think it would be fair to say the best improvement you could make, would be to wrap it in a dustbin.  Especially when some of the Bachmann ones can be found for under £60, it barely seems worth the effort.

Compromised from the start by trying to use design/tooling work from the Class 155 they did. Perhaps the running gear could be used under something else - there's a lot of units with that type of bogie.

There are, but when the much better Hornby (Lima) version from the 156 is available as spares (powered/unpowered/full power bogie), it barely seems worth the effort.

Yep, list it as "rare", "stunning", "Look!", "like Bachmann", ... and then sit back and wait for people to bid, whilst watching out at the same time for it popping up on the Ebay Madness threads when the bidding reaches silly levels... :-D

Is this yours?!  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dapol-00-GAUGE-TWO-REGIONAL-RAILWAYS-SPRINTER-CLASS-150-DMU-BOXED-/291071328018?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item43c533ff12

There must be someone who likes them, it started at £5.99, and as I type, with just over 3 hours left, its up to £25.00 - that's half a Bachmann one* paid for!

(*£54 for a First North Western one from Hattons...)
