Ben04uk
Obviously the GWR had their own platform trolley but post nationalisation, when presumably it was feasible for other company stock to be seen further afield from their heartland, how likely would it have been for the LSWR Platform Luggage Barrow to be found on stations in the Western Region in 1970s? My question predominantly relates to the West County, i.e. Cornwall (ex GWR lines). A picture showing a kit of such a LSWR Platform Luggage Barrow in provided in the link below: http://www.sbmodels.org/B05_(4)lug_barrow.html - you will have to paste this into your browser to work. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted February 17, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 17, 2014 Very unlikely I would have said - I certainly can't remember seeing any on WR (i.e. former GWR) stations in the West of England - or anywhere else - in the late 1960s/'70s. The GWR 4-wheeler was a heavy barrow but it usually had very effective brakes and it could take a good load so I doubt anyone would be keen to import foreign barrows although you could find the Post Office using different ones where their traffic was substantial (usually they borrowed station barrows at smaller stations).
