Bachmann and Dapol couplings in 4mm scale.

If I put a Bachmann wagon next to a Dapol wagon, is the difference in the couplings noticeable, please?  Thanks.  I have all Bachmann wagons and not a Dapol one to compare, and the wagon I need is made by Dapol.

I assume you are talking about ones fitted to current models.

Depends how closely you look. They are very similar and are entirely compatible with one another so you shouldn't have any worries on that score. For example, if you have a train trundling past with wagons from both manufacturers, the difference would not be noticeable.

Many thanks for reply, Chris. That answers the question nicely. It is the current type / recently discontinued models. It was just that I am struggling to find the S R version in Bachmann. S R  issues seem thin on the ground compared to other regions.

My experience has been that the Bachmann and Hornby miniature tension lock only function wholly reliably when used as one type alone. I suppose it depends on how tolerant the user is of random uncouples, I am not. With Bachmann dominating my wagon fleet (which is what the tension lock is used on) all non-Bach gets converted to their coupler. With only three Dapol wagons, didn't even think to trial their version, just swapped over.

I must admit the idea of having all Bachmann couplers was my initial thought, so can I just ask if fitting Bachmann couplings to Dapol wagons is a fairly straightforward proceedure, please ? Thanks.
