john w
Hi there Just started a station platform mixing different colour paints to try and get a faded tarmac effect. Also working on ballasting the station area and continuing working on the embankment. I will try to keep you up to date with my progress as often as I can and hope you like the pics. john w
hi everyone thanks for your comments. here is a run down of the layout. it is a commuter station set around 2002 in Birmingham mainly worked by centro class 150s and class 153s. there is a loco hauled service for first north western to Holyhead worked by a run down fleet of ews class 47s. a few of these work in to albion road due to lack of platform capacity at new street. there is a run down yard where ews off load steel. these are mainly worked by a class 37 although bescot sometimes supplies class 56, 60 or 66. even a battered res 47 has been seen on the enterprize trips.at the weekend the yard can see engineering workings. the layout is 18ft x 6ft u shape with the scenic area down one side and the fiddle yard down the other.it is oo scale and is dcc. some of the fleet is sound fitted. my main hope is to get the layout looking somewhere near as good as others seen on this site. back to work tomorrow so that's it for modelling until Monday so here is a few more photos as things stand. john. john w
hi Andrew yes although the layout is 18ft long it is only 16 inch wide in then curves off around the six foot wide board and in to the fiddle yard. once I know how to get a diagram up of the plan I will post. john. Marcus 37
This is a really nice looking layout. Look forward to seeing it develop. Definitely full of atmosphere with that run down feel being apparent. Cheers Marcus
john w
thanks Marcus. there is still plenty of scenic work I need to complete. the yard originally saw speedlink workings but closed in1991 and ews reopened it in1997 to off load steel with the yard in use the run round loop in the station has been retained although the yard was to close for good in 2004 which when we get there it will be time for a new project. so that's the main reason for the layout totally fictious of course but the yard is based on workings at Walsall yard. thanks john.
