RMweb Premium Kris Posted April 13, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 13, 2014 Never heard of it either until you popped it on here. Had it have gone ahead there would have been major changed in the local area. Not sure that the single line railway that they suggested would have been of sufficient capacity for long. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted April 13, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 13, 2014 Many thanks John - it came as a complete surprise to Mrs Stationmaster as well, who lived throughout her child but a few miles from there.

cary hill
A lucky escape for the locals and it wouldn't have done much done good for the South Devon AONB. Still another madcap scheme to be entered on "The South Hams Railways That Never Were Map" and only 2 and a half miles from the proposed terminus of the Newton Ferrers Branch. Leader 36001
A lucky escape for the locals and it wouldn't have done much done good for the South Devon AONB. Still another madcap scheme to be entered on "The South Hams Railways That Never Were Map" and only 2 and a half miles from the proposed terminus of the Newton Ferrers Branch. It is worth noting that the Royal Navy gunnery school , HMS Cambridge, was at Wembury Point from 1956 until 2000. When the guns fired, it could go on all day until 9pm, the whole house shook. Not the sort of activity welcomed in an area of outstanding natural beauty. I used to live opposite the author of the Wembury dock proposal publication for some 20 years , but I did not know that he had published this booklet in 2000. The footpath & general guide of Wembury, first published in 1966. Has a number of pages on the dock proposal, of which it was common knowledge to village residents.
