RMweb Gold tomparryharry Posted April 18, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 18, 2014 Hi Pete, I've used Romfords' screw in pins. They come in a generous length, and once the washer is soldered on, you can trim them to length/size. Unless there is a different style of crankpin..... Arthur
Romford/Markits only do two types of crank pin. The original, plain screw in one, a standard length pin which you solder the crank pin bush on, trim and file back to length. The other is the DeLuxe crank pin. This also screws into the wheel but also has a threaded pin onto which you screw a threaded top hat bush to retain the rods. It's neater in appearance because the top hat bush is less obtrusive when fitted, though I've only used them twice when I had a roller bearing cover to fit over them. ROW088 or ROW089 are the basic crank pins, packs of 6 or 8 respectively, they're on the Mainly Trains site.
Pete Harvey
I have used the plain pins before, I do like the Deluxe crank pins for the little project I have got in the pipeline. Thanks guys I know which way to go now. Pete
