RMweb Premium skipepsi Posted April 20, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 20, 2014 Having purchased this from Rob I have found out that it was effectively out of use after 2004 and scrapped in 2008, there are not many photos or information on the web about 1503 and the traffic it was used for so I am hoping someone on RMWeb could perhaps suggest websites that could help me find out more about areas of use and the consist of any shortline trains in operation on WC. pH
Mick, try this website: http://www.railpictures.net/index.php . On the search page, use the 'Locomotive Type' drop down list to select 'EMD GP7' (1503 is a GP7M, but they don't list the 'M' variant). Use the 'Railroad' drop down to select 'Wisconsin Central' in the 'Fallen Flags ( Non-Operating)' subsection - you'll have to scroll down almost to the bottom. Then click 'Find the Photos' and you should get 28 photos. There's one picture of 1503 in there. WC had GP7s from several previous owners, so there's a mixture of high hood/low hood and different colour schemes, but the photos should give you an idea of what they were used for. w124bob
Ex Algoma Central GP7 155 I think they chopped the short hood in the early 80's, one of my fav railroads (pre WC). Used to run a wayfreight 2 battered 40ft box cars and caboose usually made up the consist, served the remote communities collecting anything from cookers to canoes, also their local passenger trains were interesting, GP38-2, 2 baggage cars and 2 coaches pick and drop off anywhere, got a snowmobile no problem! DVD with the wayfreight is "Tracks of The Blackbear" this very early WC era so plenty of grey/maroon action plus the odd WC SD45. £20 from SPV
