Hornby chip issues in Hornby grange

Tried a Hornby chip in my Hornby Grange today, I can't test it on DCC untill Sunday but did test it on DC and it runs forward fine but runs poorly backward, will this sort itself out on DCC?

This is a common problem with the Hornby R8249 decoder running on DC analogue. Will run fine forwards but stops and starts in reverse. Will be OK with DCC.
