RMweb Premium finelines Posted May 19, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 19, 2014 When I made my first 00 gauge plastic kits, I did a wagon I wanted and it happened to have a a 12ft 6ins wheelbase and I later discovered I could put quite a few wagons on that underframe, I know I didn't get them all. A whole raft of things stopped making kits being fun, so I stopped. In a bout of insomnia last night that I thought was a dream, but no I really did order something from eBay at about 1.00 this morning! I was thinking about when I was making them. Every now and then I would see a wagon that I liked the look of, but they turned out to be 12ft wheelbase and I was trying to remember the ones that got away. What wagons did run on 12ft underframes? I think there may have been some GWR brown vans. Because I am a retired kit manufacturer, please don't annoy Andy by turning it into a froth, just remind me what I've forgotten! Fat Controller
21t Shockhoods LMS Loco Coal GWR Loco Coal GWR 'Pole' minerals 20t Coke Hoppers (though these were longer between axle centre and headstocks) GWR/BR steel-bodied 'Ling' (conversly, these were shorter betwixt axles and headstocks) One thing does confuse me, though, Roger; I thought that the excellent range of kits that included the Tunnies, the SR Ling and the BR fitted mineral were 12' wheelbase, not 12'6"? I do hope you go back into manufacturing kits again, though; I've built an awful lot of (and a lot of awful..) plastic kits in all sorts of genres over 50 years of model making, and yours have been amongst the very best. RMweb Premium CloggyDog Posted May 19, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 19, 2014 21t, 24.5t minerals 21t hoppers 20t Coke 12t Pipe 20t Shockhood B Tunney, Grampus, Limpet Covhop All common(ish) and I'm sure there were other, more esoteric types (weren't some of the glass-carrying well wagons on a 12t wb underframe??) Between Parkside and Chivers, the various brake types on the 12' chassis are mostly covered, I think. And etched/sprung BR 12' chassis can be had from Rumney Models
