IGRL
Usually one would build such a thing in plastic. Out of sheer cussedness this is brass!
John M
Classic Raymond Loewy style diesels, massive Glenthorne Harbour Authority steamers not your average OO9. Most exciting thing since the Stronachlachar Saga series of articles in RM in the early 70s.

RMweb Premium DLT Posted June 25, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 25, 2014 What was it they used to say about Mike & Bernie Winters? "Oh my god, there's two of them!" wasn't it? Very stylish indeed, and evocative of the era. So will we now see a Sunderland flying-boat in the harbour? Cheers, Dave.
IGRL
I still remember encountering my first US diesels of this style. They were just parked by the side of the freeway, engines running; in the middle of nowhere in Nebraska. Must have been about 1955. These are a narrow gauge interpretation and a bit of fun. Brandyman
This will be reflecting the early era of flying boats What happens to the wing's when it enters a tunnel?
IGRL
'What happens to the wing's when it enters a tunnel?' Widen the tennels Brandyman! Roof to do next and then detailing.
IGRL
The roofs are quite thick brass annealed for ease of bending. The underside of the roof well has a support frame to prevent distortion when well is cut out. Down to detailing now.

IGRL
Ah, but this is narrow gauge so no buffers. I have to get a larger soldering iron after temple today. 25 watts is a struggle.
IGRL
The cove lines are soldered on. The wire was placed in a vice (heat sink) and the wire to be curved heated to red (annealed) . This has taken some time to get it right.
