Loco Data Panels for Green TOPS

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I distinctly remember reading that "pre- sectorization" locomotive data panels were only ever produced in BR blue livery, obviously with white lettering. This is evident upon many BR green liveried diesels with TOPS numbers showing a blue- backed data panel:

My question is, does anyone produce these in 4mm as transfers (waterslide or pressfix, I'm not picky)? I've tried modelmaster and fox, who produce panels with black backgrounds, as well as the clear white ones, which are fine for a blue locomotive!

I know this has been done before, any ideas?

Thanks,

Andy.

I don't think anyone has.

I take a clear waterslide one from the backing paper (usual waterslide method), reverse it and press it on to a spare corner of backing paper. Paint it blue (obviously now on the back), leave to dry and then remove from the backing paper as normal and place on the loco the correct way round.

This photo of 47704 on Kirkhill shows the finished result:

Precision Labels do them.

You just need to know the details,i.e.. weight, speed, RA, ETH index and brake type for the loco you want them for.
