JohnMartin90125
Forgive me if this is done elsewhere, a quick search didn't bring up anything. Am about to subscribe to Hornby Magazine, who are offering a Stove R as bait. Trying to decide what version to go for and am wondering when the first Stove R was outshopped in Blue? Am going to be doing an end of steam so it's either a blue model which I could get away with in pristine condition or maroon which I would probably have to weather. Also, any good links for history of these? Thanks!
brossard
Well John, there has been considerable discussion on the Stove R and Hornby Mags version. I have seen little good written about it. I own two of the things and besides not running well through points without significant rework, they are full of errors. I'm making one at the moment re-using some of the underframe detail, roof (at least that's OK) and body. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/87302-building-an-lms-stove-r-that-works/ As for history I used two books - Essery & Jenkinson's LMS Coaches and Tatlow's Historic Carriage Drawings, Vol 3, NPCS. Unfortunately there is no other RTR version of this interesting vehicle. 6 wheels and RTR have never been a happy combination. Here's a link to the discussion: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/57394-stove-r-in-00/ ...and another: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/417/entry-6003-lms-6-wheel-passenger-parcels-vans/ John
