D5541
Morning all At the Stafford toy and train fair yesterday, I came across a Hornby class 90 in Network Southeast livery. It looked like it was actually made in that livery rather than a dodgy repaint but much googling has proved pretty fruitless, so am I right in assuming that the real 90's never actually carried this livery and this was therefore a respray? Should have gone back n brought the thing actually, did look pretty smart :-) Cheers Dan
Multiple identity account
It would have been a fictional repaint by a professional. Hornby never released it as per my knowledge. Refer to the Hornby Guide for more details.
298
http://www.fictitiousliveries.co.uk/photo.php?90057nse.jpg The only fictional livery Hornby released on the 90 was parcels red, on 90020 in a train set. NSE sounds a bit improbable on a 90 as they generally didn't work for that sector, but an 85 on a Cobbler is a different matter....
darrel
Only two AC electric locos carried network south east livery 86401 and many years later after the end of NSE one of the class 87s no 90 ever carried the livery

dvdlcs
The only fictional livery Hornby released on the 90 was parcels red, on 90020 in a train set. Hmm. Thought that one or more 90s did receive the Parcels livery, or perhaps it was the RES revision. Would have been around the '20 number as well. I recall the low numbers were allocated to InterCity and the high numbers to Railfreight, but was sure a group in the middle of the range were Parcels/RES allocated. Or did they 'only' receive InterCity Mainline livery?
298
16-20 went to the Parcels sector, the first repaint being 90020 into Res and unveiled at the Crewe Diesel open day in 1991.
vince minto
think off the top of my head 90001 to 90025 were originally delivered in intercity,90026 to 90035 in mainline, and 90036 to 90050 in rfd then as 298 says 16 to 20 went into res and 21 to 25 went into rfd as well around 1991/92 vince
JohnMartin90125
I wonder if any livery mock-ups were done as Class 87/2s in, say, a different version of InterCity which they ended up as Class 90s? Locos with different numbers can sometimes change the" personality" a bit, like TOPS numbered Class 10s, 14s and 35 in preservation. Alternative liveries are quite a fascination for me.
