18B
Afternoon just sudyiong the "Wirksworth Branch" book and in the back it lists the industrail locos used at the quarry there, knowing nexst to nothing as i do on industrial locomotives, what would be the best RTR industrail loco available to replicate them? They had: two Baguley 0-4-0 loco's, a Thomas Hill Rolls ‘Steelman’ and a F C Hibberd 4 wheel 'Simplex' The only ones I could really find where the Hornby http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/745_1_15871.html and it doesn;t lok too much like any of them? Arthur
Industrial RTR? There's only one purely industrial loco currently available RTR and that's Hornby's Sentinel, a nice model too. There's the Austerity 0-6-0ST, ex Dapol now Hornby, released in both J94 and industrial liveries and soon to available as a brand new model from DJM. DJM have also recently announced a Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0ST. The Antics model is 'a roughly based on' using an existing chassis, not a serious model at all. Other than that, you would be looking at ex mainline locos which saw industrial service, the 03 and 08, Jinty 0-6-0T as examples. None of these is anything like the ones you mention at the quarry. The Sentinel is as close as you'll get.

BernardTPM
Drewry also produced locos to the same basic design as the Class 04 for industrial users - the same applies to the forthcoming Heljan Hunslet Class 05. Beyond those mentioned there's nothing anywhere near accurate R-T-R.
Gordon A
There is a whole raft of industrial loco kits by Agenoria, High Level, Judith Edge including Roxey's Planet best with a High Level Quad Drive unit. Gordon A Bristol
RMweb Gold highpeakman Posted August 23, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 23, 2014 Have you looked at Hornby's new Railroad Bagnall? Doesn't look too bad and with some modelling it could shine up nicely. Low cost and, I understand, it runs quite well. Might go for it myself for my Wirksworth based model. Even the Hornby "Smoky Joe" can be made to run a lot better with a DCC chip fitted and lends itself to being modelled into a general purpose steam industrial similar to the locos unsed in the quarries at Wiorksworth. Just checked it out, out to (the very) untrained eye, it does look suitably industrial as apposed to merely ex-BR.
