Blog- COLE project 5. laying the track and wiring up - Point mechanisms

Recommended Posts

I chose Tortoise operating mechanisms and so far they seem to operate very well.

My preferred method of operating is a crank above and below trackbed using rod and tube.

Tie bars are the American system of PTFE tubing as supplied by C&L.

Plain track 60` sections have four wire droppers connected to a bus-bar under trackbed. which proved themselves when I added DCC.

The bridge at the north end of Cole had to be fitted into trackway before tracklaying.

The problem with using steel rail in trackwork is often rust. But I seem to have solved this by spraying the track with rust proof primer from Phoenix/Precision range and then further spraying with sleeper grime.
