'Pie in the Sky' - Move along, nothing to see here - Just messin..

So

I find myself going off on yet another modelling tangent.

Don't worry I'm not about to build another layout, but I have bought a few bits to tinker with.

Hopefully I can build a couple of points and sidings, run my two 2-8-0 'consolidations' and that will be it. Problem solved, it will be out of my system, I can then get back to what I should be doing; maintaining 'Diesels in the Duchy', building Fiddle Yards and a Steam fleet for 'Black Country Blues' and wiring Old Gringo's 'Once Upon a Time in the West'.

I mean it's not like there ever was a 2 foot 6 inch system that ran in New England.

and it wouldn't have been built to a higher spec, near heavy rail standards? - such as the Lynton & Barnstable was.....

It's just 'Pie in the Sky'

I'll post some pics of the point build using the Fast Track jigs once I get going..

I meant to add if you really want to get adventurous howzabout a 5’ 6” gauge line starting in Buenos Aires and built by the British (with what looks like the original signals)

I’m infatuated with the Linea San Martin...

Best, Pete.

D, you're doing better than me. Today has been 're-roofing the kid's Wendy house, fixing the house guttering, weeding the garden and, of course, cutting the grass.

On the plus side I'm taking OG for a nice Sunday drive to Telford tomorrow. Lots of 7mm stuff to look at.

That Yankee loco would look nice on DitD, might have to do some clearance tests though.

Better than you?

I'm just dreaming, we've been decorating for ever.

I'm hoping to have a go at the point tomorrow - either that or stay in bed and bum around all day...

Chris - If you want some American stock to run on Damians' little project call and see me and Paul Martin on the EDM Models stand 124

See what's available here http://www.ngtrains.com/Pages/Bachmann/Bachmann.htm

Sorry no cheques - cash or card only . . . . . .

No Accucraft coaches but I think there are two flats and a tank wagon - got some very nice San Juan stock, tank, flat and gondola plus a range of Bachmann - not all stock is at the show as we are limited for space.

We also have 2012, 2013 and 2014 On30 Annuals to provide inspiration . . . . .

Just to show that it's not all American, we also have kits of Welsh locos, a Himalayan loco, South African wagons and a ready to run Australian loco, scenic items, track and DCC gear - did I mention we take credit cards . . !!

If you’re not too serious then look at this site. The kids would like it. You know Johnny Gringo etc.

Best, Pete.

Pete, - Mr Trisonic - Sir

I could do with a little help.

I'm obviously not taking this seriously but if I was I need some reference material on typical Station Architecture in the New England Area.

I've bought one or two random/general books on American Narrow Gauge; Maine, Sumpter Valley & Iowa, plus a book on Dimensions, weights and tractive Power of Narrow Gauge Locomotives manufactured by the Baldwin Locomotive works.

But its the specifics of the area I'm after really.

I very much like these shots of Bloomfield station; http://www.ddtvl.com/bfrail.htm

Any thoughts?

Have you looked at Troels Kirks line?, also featured in the 0n30 annuals Mike listed.

Volume 3 of 5 on the on30 forum!

http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=30488

There's a good book on the Maine two footers lines that pops up on eBay.

There's some nice stuff on there - thank you

Mind you, you could spend a dollar or two on publications...

Yep research gets very expensive with books but the net is pretty good for this subject if you compile a list of the names of places and railroads and search various combinations ;)

There's a preserved line that's got a lot of pictures on Railpictures.net so their own websites are probably worth looking at for links.

Shame the L&B didn't continue and buy some 2-8-0 consolidations for all of that heavy freight

Well there you are, you've just created yourself a modelling project!

Theres no going back, not once you've started in narrow gauge...
