Hornby and Arnold have both uploaded a picture of what seems to be a PCB board wired to 5 other lighting circuit boards.... It's another guessing game.

Share your thoughts.... Lighting boards for the Arnold 5BEL?

But it's six cars with one without the lights, that could be a dummy of some sort for the test rig or they are hinting at something else that has a power car.

Which does lend itself to an APT but that would be a controversial decision given all the other companies shyness when it comes to 2mm overhead electrics.

Now this is a very interesting one,

Looking at the pcb boards yes 1 board could be in the rig for load testing, but let's assume it's not for this missive.

I don't think it's roof lighting as everyone tends to so central Roof mounted LED's for that.

So it must be table lamps. However why would they show the light rig from the BB when it's almost here, when they would be better off showing the BB as a finished item with the lamps lit trough the windows?

So, APT? Both driving ends are different and have different amounts of windows, but only first class have table lamps.

So your looking for something that has 6 then 7 then 5 (with only 4 the other side) then 5 ( with 4 the other side) then 6 again.

It's way too early I. The morning to guess this as I need more coffee, so does this match the BB table configuration of tables / windows and if not, what does it match?

Very interesting though.

Cheers

Dave

Note there are two brown wires coming into the lower main board, presumably the power feed.

There are two mauve or grey wires going down possibly to the little 'end board half on shot.

Then there are the three yellow wires going on somewhere - and the same at the top. Now these could just be engineering safety margin test loads, or it could be we are not being given the complete picture.

But it's six cars with one without the lights

The lowest board is the PCB I presume. It is usually mounted on the roof and so it will accompany one of the other lighting circuits in one power car. The wires also seam to match the 3-pin socket couplings (if I'm correct). So it still stands at 5 in total.

Hornby/Arnold have revealed that it is indeed the lighting circuit boards + PCB boards of the N gauge Brighton Belle. The post was confirmed on facebook.

They also released the first running videos of the N gauge Brighton Belle.

First impressions are impressive but motor seems a tad noisy and a pity the wheels cannot be seen clearly as I want to see if the pizza cutters have been swapped for RP25 wheels sets.

Video has now been replaced with another version. Cab light will need masking. Not sure about the gap between the cars. The wheel flanges do not look like the low profile mentioned in the German language description on the Arnold website, which explains why the solebar cutouts are still there. Still looking forward to receiving mine when I am back from holiday. Overall looks like a good first British outline Arnold model.

as far as british outline n gauge is concerned this model appears to move the game on with cab lights table lamps and directional lighting all being very welcome in the small scale. i actually believe thwt the more features that we expect to see in 00 migrate down to N gauge could actually encourage more modellers to scale down from 00. the lack of rtr models in n gauge that do not offer the features of the 00 models is whats holding me back from making a committed change from 00 to N.

the belle looks superb and the lighting effects bring it to life and allows another modelling aspect of night time operating.

the motor in the first video is terribly noisy so for those buying one i just hope that the production motor is silent. this one however reminds me of an old Lima pancake motor!

i also agree about the wheels.hopefully jornby will ensure the model has the newer profiles not pizza cutters.that would ruin it. people dont want to have to buy new wheelsets for a brand new model.

on first impressions its a 9 out of 10 from me. id give it a 10/10 if the motor and wheels are all good.
