John_Hughes
I've acquired a kit for a McGowan Models LSWR / SR B4 0-4-0, but it is missing the chassis. I understand that at least a few years back there was an etched chassis available; does anyone know from where, or whether it's still around. Failing that, the plans to scratch-build one would be handy!
RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted September 15, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 15, 2014 Hi John I assume you mean the 4mm version which is now in the hands of South Eastern Finecast and they have produced a very nice etched chassis to go with it that is available separately. Brilliant - many thanks for that information!

John_Hughes
A pleasure John, happy to help. I look forward to seeing the results of your build. Seeing the results? You'll be in for a long wait, I'm afraid! I'm booked solid until at least next Easter with stuff for other people! The B4 came with a job-lot of stuff from the estate of someone whose loco-building activities seem to have involved opening the box, making a start, losing some important bits (the whole chassis except for the coupling rods in this case!) and then putting the resulting botch back in the box and forgetting the whole thing. Very sad!

Very sad! I recently picked up the remains of a DJH Standard Five which definitely fits your description! Fit only for breaking down into parts, but at least the seller included a Portescap RG4 motor which worked!
