RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted September 26, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 26, 2014 Good evening all. A general question here about a subject in discussion elsewhere. Would you please have a look at the Directors' Saloon as shown, second coach in the photograph. It was an almost unique coach on the SR (ex LBSCR) and there does not appear to be any way of reproducing it other than a scratch-build. However, with all the coach experts out there, can anyone suggest something that might be very similar that I could use, preferably without too much hacking! The bogies and under-frame are not really a problem as I can fettle those out of existing kit parts. I've spent the best part of the afternoon trawling through the coach kit sites I know and have come up with a few but they are not really that close. I suspect something LNWR might come close? This is the same coach; better view. Many thanks, Phil.
PenrithBeacon
Can't answer the question but I can see that the Class 4 mogul is one of the few that was marked as 4P 4FA. Regards
RMweb Premium uax6 Posted September 26, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 26, 2014 I doubt that you will get anything that will look even close to it. Theres almost a L&Y feel about it, but sadly i think you are either going to have to get the sides etched or get the plasticard out.... Nick Holliday
Not quite the same, but Worsley Works do a body only etching for the LBSC saloon that was sent to the Isle of Wight - similar large windows but with compartments at each end, and only 4 wheel bogies - which captures much the same spirit.
