Just a heads up on a new set of 4mm sprung coach buffers released by MJT/Dart into their range.

I'm not sure what stock would be an appropriate use for them but I'm sure someone with knowledge of such things can enlighten me as they do look quality castings as one expects from this retailer. They look like some used on brown vehicles to me.

IIRC, the 2' buffers were introduced around 1900, were not used for very long, and most had disappeared by the late thirties. Most of those that look quite long are 18" types and I don't remember seeing anything longer than this on brown vehicles. Much rummaging, or input from our coach specialists, might confirm or change this.

I'm surprised to see these listed as new since I am sure I bought a set by mistake some years ago...

Perhaps the "NEW" refers to the version with 18" heads? The 12" head version (2308S) has been available for some time and is a reasonable representation of the buffer used on many four and six wheel coaches, as well as TADPOLES, 6-wheel SIPHONS, and the N4 as noted above.  The body length is about 16".
