PGC
I need to find two point levers such as these Can anyone tell me who made these and where I can buy some, please. Thanks in advance for any help. Phil
Eggesford box
I do not know what size or scale they would be but the nearest illustration that I have seen would appear to be by Brandbright though that is a drawing not a photograph.
bécasse
I think that were made by a firm (whose name currently escapes me but who were located close to Norwood Junction station in South London) roughly half a century ago. They were commonplace at the time! I have occasionally come across them in recent years, either in the original pack (5, 6?) or singly (and then usually without the omega loops, in the second hand rummage boxes that some Clubs have at their shows. Whilst their appearance is different, the levers still available from GEM will provide the same function.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 1, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 1, 2014 I need to find two point levers such as these point levers.jpg Can anyone tell me who made these and where I can buy some, please. Thanks in advance for any help. Phil They look like S&B point levers which came with an omega loop as those have. I think GEM might have taken them over after S&B went out of business but if not they did something similar at one time. I haven't seen any for quite a long time. micknich2003
GEM took over the S&B tooling or business c1960, I would need to go through my magazine collection to give a date, but at the moment, too busy building houses.
bécasse
S&B was indeed the firm I was thinking of. I think that they were in business a little later than 1960. As I said before, the current GEM Models point lever isn't identical but does perform the same function and it does use an omega loop.
Grovenor
Those look like the 'TT' version of the S&B lever, a bit smaller than the '00' version. There were other similar makes also but not as common. All only available second hand now. The S&B TT version tended to suffer wear in the spiral slot quite quickly so beware of well used examples. The current GEM lever is a completely different style. Keith

Jeff Smith
How about these from Caboose Industries via Micromark http://www.micromark.com/caboose-industries-5218s-ho-and-n-scale-sprung-ground-throws-pkg-of-5,8800.html
PGC
How about these from Caboose Industries via Micromark http://www.micromark.com/caboose-industries-5218s-ho-and-n-scale-sprung-ground-throws-pkg-of-5,8800.html Thanks for this, Jeff, it looks exactly like what I want, except I only want 2, and I have to buy a pack of 5! Some earlier posters mentioned about TT & OO versions - I don't know what scale the levers are, nor do I know who made the levers I got the picture of, although I thought they were an early GEM product? I just remember them from when I first started in model railways, some 40+ years ago. Thanks to everyone who posted replies. Phil
Grovenor
As several posters have said already the picture is of S&B levers, not GEM. As far as scale goes, they were described as 00 or TT to suggest they were suitable for use with those scales but are well over 'scale size'. The TT version would probably be close to 7mm scale. Keith Yes, they were over scale, but when I used them they were ranged along the back of the layout behind the scenery and operated the points and signals through wire in the tube. The great thing about these levers was the locking be default because of the way they worked, and with hand built track, I found that a benefit. As it is, I want just 2 now for a test track, for exactly the reason of the locking method. I could use two of my stock of tortoise motors, but on a test track? I don't think so!
