deadlyduck
Its a very hard question to ask as we cannot see your layout or the wiring you have on it.I would suggest you look over all your wiring using a Multi meter.
HLT 0109
Graham, Is this a new layout or has it been working? If it has just gone wrong, think back to when it first happened and try to remember what you did just before then. That might give you a clue where to look. Otherwise, if you remove all rolling stock, it might be worth running a vacuum cleaner over all the track; there could be a loose strand of wire or a track pin lodged somewhere it shouldn't be - if you use Hornby point clips, my money is on one having become dislodged and lying across the track. RMweb Gold traction Posted November 8, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 8, 2014 Sounds like the controller. If you have disconnected the controller from the track completely as you've said, so you've taken the feeds out from the base station which go to the track, then in theory when you turn the controller on nothing should be shorting it out as it's disconnected from everything! I've never used a Dynamis so don't know if it could be something to do with the InfraRed signal between hand controller and base station. graham 96
i will hover the track on sunday thanks harold ian it could be the controller as it has short out before when ive had them running before ill try and get a photo up of lay out as for the wireing ive only got 2 wires to each track and useing Hornby clips in between the points hope this helps graham
Free At Last
Wasn't there a problem with these units having some pins underneath that could short out?
steveb860
I've never used a Dynamis so don't know if it could be something to do with the InfraRed signal between hand controller and base station. That won't cause the Dynamis to trip out and short. 9 times out of 10 when I had a short, I had left a tool on the track. The 10th time I had inadvertenly used a metal fishplate instead of using an insulated one.

Right so if that doesn't cause a short then it must be the controller, as the OP said he had disconnected everything from the track. If this has been done then it doesn't matter if anything is across the tracks, wrong fish plates or even incorrect wiring as the base station isn't connected to anything. Free at last is correct though, I seem to remember that on the bottom of the base station there are open connections which are used to connect it to the Pro-Station, something could be shorting out these pins, I seem to remember someone on here using insulation tape across them. First thing I would do is take out the wiring from the base station so it isn't connected to anything. Make sure that those contacts are clear on the underneath of the base station, then turn it all on again, it may need resetting, if it faults then surely it has to be something to do with the controller/base station as its not connected to anything. Crosland
The Dynamis is shorting when disconnected from the track. There are only two logical conclusions: The Dynamis is faulty. There is (still) something else connected to the Dynamis track outputs. Andrew
