Doughnut
Im after a 4 wheel motor bogie (2 actually) that gives a high speed, ie for a Pendolino. I know the originalHornby bogies were fast, but I replaced them with something smoother. Alas, they've turned out to be quite slow and give nothing like the speed required for a Pendo. I would get a couple of spare Hornby bogies again, but they have traction tyres which I dont want. Any suggestions would be gratefully considered. PGC
High Level do motor bogies, but I don't know whether they'd provide the top speed you're after or not. Phil
34theletterbetweenB&D
... I would get a couple of spare Hornby bogies again, but they have traction tyres which I dont want. Any suggestions would be gratefully considered. Unless Hornby have significantly changed their usual design, if spares of the metal tyred wheel sets are available these should be a simple to install substitute for the traction tyred wheelsets. Alternatively if the axle is 2mm diameter, pulling the traction tyred wheels off the axle and substituting plain discs of the right diameter over treads is possible, but there is the job of attaching gears to the wheelbacks. Also is a detailing insert available for the wheel faces? (Bit out of date on what's now readily done, as the last time I did this sort of thing was on two of Hornby's original ex-Fleischmann design three axle drive ringfields, fitting Jackson discs, to obtain an all wheel power and pick up class 47. The ticklish bit was using the original wheels on a 2mm rod to centre the wheelback gears while Aralditing these onto the Jackson wheelbacks.
Andy Reichert
I'm just debugging the pre-production version of my brand new "ElectroGlide" range of EMU motor and trailer bogies. Should be able to introduce the first versions, including for BR 8-6 wheelbase around the end of the year. Andy

Andy Reichert
These look interesting, Andy, will they be available for all 4mm gauges? Phil I'm working in HO myself, so merely extending the wheel spacing for EM and P4 shouldn't be any problem. Andy
Horsetan
... brand new "ElectroGlide" range ... Why does that get me thinking of Harley Davidsons?
Andy Reichert
Why does that get me thinking of Harley Davidsons? Because it sounds like a Honda Electraglide? Andy
