MODIFYING Hornby TENDER TO LOCO CONNECTIONS

Looking to replace the electrical connections with drawbar on the earlier Hornby  5mt, 8f, Duchess, ect,

with the new type plug in connection and solid adjustable draw bar,  any guides welcome tried to search the Forum.

My mods to Hornby are based around what they did so well on the Britannia and Castle (and probably a few others)  and what Bachmann consistently do: placing a new drawbar in the right place, through the slots in the dragboxes, which are usually represented on the models. I would suggest that  looking at a few of the models where it is done right, and shamelessly copying the arrangement is the simplest way forward.

 

I don't bother with plug and socket for electrical connections though, but hardwire through from the loco, make a hole in the tender underside and stuff the slack wire in the tender cavity, secure with a piece of blue tack in the hole.

Can I be shown pictures how to hard wire between loco and tender was thinking of keeping the post on the Hornby tenders but may be cut them shorter unless shown a better way of fitting the drawbar,   thanks.
