jonathan3005
After looking at double slips in thought and realising the problems with incorporating one I decided to bite the bullet and ask the question of how to incorporate the point rodding into the scene and how to make it prototypical and how to achieve this daunting task I would like to ask for images our diagrams to work out how this task might be achieved thank you for reading and any help will be received with open arms /Jon/
Boris
It's actually fairly simple as the each pair of blades are usually connected to each other and move as a pair so you only actually need one point rod feeding it and a pair of FPLs if they are appropriate. I will take some photos of the one at Grosmont tomorrow when I am there.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 11, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 11, 2014 It can vary - and Company/Regional practice also varied, and it can depend on the location and purpose of the double slip. Thus in one application, as apart of a 'ladder' of crossovers it forms part of two crossovers plus a link between those two crossovers so would be worked - in its different parts - by three different levers and this three runs of rodding (there were a couple like this at Didcot East Junction). In its simplest application the switches at each end are both worked by the same lever. The best answer to find how yours would be worked is to try to find some signalbox diagrams typical of the area you are modelling.

micknich2003
Here are two Double Slips and almost end on, but they are connected up differently. May be of some interest.
jonathan3005
To settle any previous anomaly's in the situation this is the layout i hope to achieve it depicts a late 60s scene with tracks to the yard being dismantled it also shows a branch line heading down the bottom of the image, furthermore the location of the scene is at the mouth of a station which dos not feature on the layout uses code 100 track from peco i have attached a plan of the layout planed created using "any rail 5" free better than its Hornby counterpart and allows the use of peco and other manufactures in a wide variety of scales and is fairly simple to produce a plan.
