The Black Hat
Hello all, A simple question really. I have cut the wires to my DCC sound chip for some renovation work on the West Country's tender. The model is 34040 Crewkerne. The question is: With the buffers facing you and the tender connection at the far end (as if looking from the back of the locomotive forwards), is the red wire attached to the right side, or left? Thanks in advance.
SRman
Convention says the red wire should go to the right hand side wheels/rails.
The Black Hat
Thanks. Thats helped massively! Have gone and re-connected the wires but to a Merchant Navy tender instead, hence them being cut. Will soon have Braunton on shed!
Crosland
Usual convention is looking forwards, i.e., drivers eye view: For pickups: Red is Right Black is Left For motor connections: Orange were Red used to be which just leaves Grey, where black used to be Still doesn't guarantee the loco will move in the expected direction Andrew
The Black Hat
Im not fussed about it moving in the right direction as I can soon change that using CVs on the ECoS I have. What I was concerned about was a short leading to a blown chip, but its working now. Thanks for the help. Will be posting an update on how it was all done on my Workbench thread in due course. Braunton's alive!!
RAF96
Always worth checking that the loco AND the tender are wired to the same convention.
