dasatcopthorne
Hi Guys. Just taken delivery of a Kernow 37 906. It's in original Railfreight. It'll have Legomanbiffo sound fitted but I can't find any reviews or sound files anywhere for the Ruston engined chip. Biffo usually loads his sounds onto Youtube but not this one. Are the Ruston engined 37s very different to the 'normal' ones. Also, I'd like this one to have snow ploughs. I have searched for photos of a loco in this livery with ploughs but haven't come up with any. Even one end will do. Has anyone got any info please? Cheers Dave
class"66"
Both "Ruston and Mirlees" 37 locos were some special program, for testing out new engines, lower gearing, and extra weight added to one of its fuel tanks...

Steve-e
I only have 1 photo of a 37/9 This one taken at Carlisle around 1990 Sorry no ploughs attached, I've had a look through flickr and the only 37/9 I can find with ploughs is 37906 but only while preserved.. Also I think you need to be careful with the 37/9s if re-numbering as the roof shapes were different 37901 and 37906 differ greatly. I think 37901 - 904 all have one shape roof 37905 -906 have the other. Steve
RMweb Gold pheaton Posted November 23, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 23, 2014 The mirlees engine 37/9s 901 and 902 903 and 904 were unable to accommodate the mirlees engine into the 37 bodyshell using the standard roof profile so a entirely new panel was fitted....this carried two exhaust types during its life time....the original Gloster Saro exhaust and then the "straight out the turbo" special they got later in life.... as a result as previously mentioned the mirlees roof is radically different from a ruston engined roof. Ruston engines also sound significantly different to mirlees 37s theres is a picture of my model of 37901 with the correct mirlees roof after the gloster saro exhaust was taken out http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/image/59669-dscf0077/
