tankengineparent
My son is really in to trains, and particularly Thomas the tank Engine. As his bedroom is quite small I plan on making him a set which will pull out from under his bed, hence board size maximum 3'x5'6". I was thinking N Gauge would be the way to go as I have seen Thomas, Percy and Henry ( by Tomix I think ) and also James and Gordon by another manufacturer in n gauge. Hopefully using n gauge I can get a reasonable layout in the space I have. My question is, which manufacturer track should I be buying ( and what pieces are recommended for curves etc ) , and where is the best place to buy the trains / controller . I had a OO gauge set when I was younger, so I do know some things about trains, but I guess in comparison to most on this site I am very much a novice. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. RMweb Premium Kris Posted November 23, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2014 James is from Tomix as well. Just be aware that these models don't currently seem to be in production so when they do come up you will be paying premium prices for them. In terms of track, for a first layout that might get changed about quite a bit then I would suggest having a look at the Kato range. The other option would be Peco, however I would steer you away from their set track points. These can cause problems for some steam outline locos. tankengineparent
do different manufacturer track fit together okay, or would I be best to stick to just one ?
