Hi, railsquid here, nominally British but have lived most of my adult life in foreign climes, first Germany and now Japan. I had a half-hearted OO layout in my childhood years, but recently discovered the delights of Japanese N-gauge and have become addicted. I've been lurking here on and off and finally registered to identify a photo someone had posted.

Welcome!  I always like to see crossover between here and JNS Forum.

Maybe she'll be impressed by the trains here and change her mind? If you need any suggestions for appropriate locations to purchase souvenirs for Dad, do let me know.

Welcome aboard - I see you have already discovered ER's!

I travelled to Japan a lot in the 70's/80's as I was in the Merchant Navy - I loved Kobe, pre-quake of course, and visited many other ports.

Why thank you! I have a soft spot for Kobe - like Yokohama it has a kind of international feel absent from other Japanese cities. I first visited there in 1997 and it had recovered pretty well even then.
