Karhedron
Perhaps you could put any Southern items in the same design box but with a green base colour. And bright yellow "sunshine" lettering. Keep up the good work and please convince Kernow for a N 117 !I'll second that! My bubble cars are getting lonely.
woodenhead
Serious point, Kernow is in some ways damaging the N market, all their commissions are in OO and as they own the moulds it has to reduce the chance of Dapol or Bachmann doing the models unless Mr Dave has something allowing him to use information in forthcoming N models. Doubt that's the case. Look at what Dave has posted about having to start in OO to get the return to build the business. It's the small size of the UK N market that's the limitation; there's been evidence in the not that distant past of market saturation from the product ranges of just the two competing manufacturers named. If N offered equal or better commercial return to OO, I would expect that more current players and many of the new entrants would have N offerings alongside the OO. What could be better than using much of the research and exterior CAD work to produce models in two scales, thus spreading this investment cost over more models? But the new entrants are all starting with OO only: businessmen, following the money...

But the new entrants are all starting with OO only: businessmen, following the money... I would expect N models to be comparatively more expensive. That wouldn't bother me if it was something I really want (such as an electrostar or six!) but it does mean that I wouldn't buy things that were not essential for my layout. talisman56
... BR maroon could be seen nationwide even if the Southern preferred green. ... ...and whenever anything painted maroon appeared on BR(S) metals it was shifted back to wherever it came from ASAP... jsp3970
Love the colours. Maybe its because I live in Canada but when I first saw the logo I was reminded of a ice hockey logo! Will the 71's be in this box, or will they be in a Kernow box? Edited as I seem to have no ability how to spell!

Hi mate, the 71 wil be in a DJM box as its a DJM project, but the funds are held by Kernow. I felt that as a first real crowd source for a UK OO gauge RTR mass produced locomotive, it would help put modellers minds at ease, by having an organisation with a great deal of credibility behind me. railsquid
Thinking of putting traction tires on all my loco's now, as it seems to be the 'in thing'! Just wondering - are traction tyres out of fashion in the UK now? I've got a mixture of Japanese, German and British N-gauge motive power units on my layout, and the British ones (GraFar/Dapol) are the only ones without traction tyres. And funnily enough also the only ones which are prone to slipping on gradients (which are admittedly a bit on the steep side, but I don't have a huge amount of space and designed them initially for my Japanese stock, which handle them fine). Devo63
Nice looking logo and colour scheme but I was hoping for a nice dark green with a gold shaded with red Swindon Egyptian font. For the colour blind modellers (and shade blind like me) serious thought should be given to a microchip and speaker on each box which will tell you, in all major European languages, the contents and specifications of each model plus a history of the prototype, I don't really think that's asking for much! On a more serious question for you Dave, have you had any expressions of interest from any Australian importers/distributors for your products. I always try to buy local when possible to try to keep the few (especially in Adelaide) model shops in business. British outline product is getting harder to find Down Under and a lot of the time you can buy 2 models plus postage from the UK for cheaper than 1 model here. RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted November 27, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 27, 2014 Without wishing to deviate too far from Dave Jones' topic I too would dearly love to support the few model shops in the Melbourne area. Both of the two nearer ones are at least an hour's drive and yes UK outline is getting harder to find. It's expensive because of the import regime and distribution arrangements. With the present ease of importing by online / mail order it's doing the local shops no favours at all. I will simply not pay the equivalent of £250 on top of my time, fuel and road tolls for a locomotive I can get delivered to my door for half that price from the UK. That said if Dave wants anyone to take up the baton over here I'm game.

Dave Hi Dave and Rick, I'd love to sell my loco's to stockists in Europe and Australia and the USA, but no one has approached me, despite sending out invitations to everyone i could find. Mind you, I sent out 400 invitations and application packs to UK stockists and only got 40 replies. This is a shame, but possibly they dont want to deal with me, or are waiting until something tangible pops up. Having said that i was expecting a flush of trade application forms back after i unveiled the J94 EP models but got none. lol It seems that not only do some stockists not have enough stock in this year, they dont want to have mine either! I hope they all come forth soon, as i'm only making to pre-orders, so if they miss out then they miss out completely on the first run. Mind you, the old saying is very apt here........ you can take a horse to water......etc Cheers Dave
