RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted December 13, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 13, 2014 Hi folks, At some point the various regional civil engineers began to add small black & yellow 'ownership' stickers to cabsides of some of their allocated locomotives; the left-hand-end would give the abbreviation for the relevant region (e.g. ScR, LMR, etc). Form memory, I do not recall seeing them on anything other than standard rail-blue locos. My question is: when did this begin to happen? I am also curious to know if they were fitted to anything other than classes 20 and 26 (the classes I remember seeing them on). Many thanks in advance for any help with this. Regards, Alex. Mark Saunders
Alex This sounds like sectorisation in the early 1990's when there were separate pools of locomotives allocated for weekend work only! Mark Saunders

Lyddrail
Alex, Logos were used on class 73s in the south in Exec livery, once painted in Dutch the logos were redundant. This was In the early 90s with pools of civils locos etc. Cheers.
GordonC
I think I've seen those on Railfreight Red Stripe Class 26s at some point
dvdlcs
I assumed that the Civils 'flash' was applied to their locos to mark ownership prior to (or in lieu of) painting in the grey or later grey/yellow 'Dutch' livery.

RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted December 17, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 17, 2014 Hi folks, Sorry to take so long to respond to you all; work has now entered its annual 'silly season' so getting online is a bit of a luxury at the moment. Thank you so much for all those responses. From the pics and comments it looks like 1989 may have been the beginning. I could remember seeing the logos in use and then seeing them disappear but could not recall when I had first seen them. Like many all my notes and pictures from the 80s and 90s are long gone de to other distractions and priorities in life at the time. Once more, many thanks. Regards, Alex.
