Axel.Richardson
Hi guys I've got a new project in the pipeline, this time I intend to build and take it to shows so I'm going to start from the planning stage. Up until recently I've been mainly OO gauge, I've got my current bedroom layout that's still a work in progress and a couple I've done prior. However I've always been longing for O gauge but never taken the plunge. In the club I attend there has been a O Gauge uprising resonantly with a few members selling up and moving to O and I also got on the bandwagon. I sold some stuff and now own 2 locos, a green Heljan class 40 and green 55 deltic and 50 various wagons. I'm going to stick with green diesels for the moment as that's what interests me, I will probably get steam one day. Now I have some o gauge stock I feel I need to build a layout. I will be doing it on my own but will show it on behalf of the club. Due to space in my house I'm limited to a scenic section of 10ft x 32in as I'd like to have it on display at home. I plan on having two fiddle yards either side for shows but when at home these will not fit. So on to ideas, Due to going large diesels I think it is going to have to be a diesel deport, I can have them sitting on show at home then. I'm going to attempt to keep the layout interesting. I've got a couple of ideas, and done two track plans that I will upload my favourite. This is going to be my first attempt at a O gauge layout. I've got a few days off over Christmas and I plan to use them constructing a base frame so will post pictures in the new year If anyone has any ideas that can help me in the planning stAge of what I could incorporate. Axel.Richardson
Here are the two I've got ATM, the whistler and deltic. Taken at the club with some scenic boards I've build for the test track area.
SMR CHRIS
Hi Axel The Locos are a really good start esp as inspiration to get something up and built but where are you going to put the 50wagons a background of sidings?? May be the go.
JeffP
How about a slightly compacted version of this: https://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html#/Map/265835/195237 The beauty of it is, it's a real location so works as well as looking real, and it was by necessity compact to fit in the space. It's Landore (Swansea) diesel depot, by the way, LE in diesel days.

May be the go. Hi Chris I'm really looking forward to making a start. I've only modelled in OO and n so far. I plan to build this section in such a wAy I will able to incorporate it if I ever get the space to build a large layout in O. I will have to see if I can fit some siding in for wagon stock, I wish I had another 10ft to fit it all in. I've always loved a 40, it was the first loco I had as a kid. Yours looks good, There are some very nice micro layouts in O, I'm going to have a go at a micro o gauge diorama for a club comp in March. Yes I know the depot, the railway club I'm a member is a stone throw away. I'll like the idea on modelling a real location, I find it more enjoyable to model. I'll have to see what I can fit into the space I have.
Axel.Richardson
Well here is one plan I have. It is fictional, and fits the maximum space available. The two loco sheds will be low relief so not to take up space. There is a through line on the bottom that will have fiddle yards both sides, two sidings also on the bottom.
