RMweb Gold Brinkly Posted December 22, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 22, 2014 I've just seen this, how awful. So sad at any time of year. I hope it really was just a freak accident and nothing else. Thoughts and prays to the families. Nick.
darrel
It's a place I know well, walked down that road countless times I often drink in dows round the corner. Police have just confirmed 6 fatalities given how busy this area is its a miracle there were not more. Thoughts go out to all those involved and their families. Also to all the members of the emergency services who have had to deal with this terrible accident.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted December 23, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 23, 2014 Very nasty job indeed - seems the driver was taken ill according to some reports but that still won't make it any better for him. Condolences to all.
RMweb Premium NGT6 1315 Posted December 23, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 23, 2014 Awful indeed - under any circumstances of course, but even more so at this time of year. Sincere sympathies to everyone directly or indirectly affected...
Merc435
I was in George square a few days ago and it was very busy. Gotta hand it to Glasgow. When the Terrorists struck the Airport, the Glaswegians ran TOWARDS them and took action. When the Helicopter crashed into the Clutha bar, the Glaswegians ran TOWARDS the bar to pull out the injured victims. When the Bin lorry crashed, the Glaswegians ran TOWARDS it, to give first aid, tend the deceased and guide traffic around the medics. Thank you Glasgow, for once again, proving you are willing and able to deal with any situation.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted December 23, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 23, 2014 Tragic news indeed as it includes three members of the same family amongst the dead.
stewartingram
Thoughts too for bin lorry crew & their families. Too early to know, and rather not speculate, but there are reports of the driver slumped over the wheel during the incident. Stewart

Arthur
One lady apparently witnessed the death of her daughter and both parents, it really cannot get any worse than that. What a tragedy for the families involved, especially at this time of year. It really brings the loss into focus.
