The most accurate OO RTR locos ever?

As commented before, the models with the threads that don't run into pages and pages of critical analysis normally indicate the model is fairly OK. These are favourites of models I own, and therefore can't comment on others.

Of my diesel fleet the ones needing the least amount of work

Heljan Hymek (etched scavenger grille would be good, but still Heljan are putting these models out, the overall shape is very accurate)

New tooling Bachmann 40 - once the non conductive grease is dealt with, it's a super model.

Heljan class 28 Co-Bo

Bachmann DP1

New tooling Heljan 33

Heljan 16 - what a super little loco.

Dapol Western - save running qualities, the complex shape of my favourite BR diesel has been captured very well.

The new tooling Bachmann peaks are pretty good too, save trivial inaccuracies re grilles etc.

the forthcoming Bachmann North British Warship looks pretty good too, and let's hope for regrade of the 24/25 fleet when the 24/1 appears.

My steam fleet is less extensive and a bit out my depth re accuracy but my favourites are

Hornby B1, B17, Britannia, O1, Castle and black 5

Bachmann SDJR 7F, MR 3F and the 9F is a hell of a good model too

Heljan Beyer Garrett (what a model to pick as an entree to UK steam)

Even the GWR 101?

It even looks a bit like it!

(And that chassis is extremely reliable)

The chassis looks nothing like the real thing though. I'm not sure how you define reliable, I certainly couldn't rely on any of mine to do anything other than race around doing their finest bullet train impression...

As a nominee for accurate (since we are lacking in steam locos!)  lets put in a vote for the Bachmann 57xx pannier. Apart from the sandbox fillers being in the wring place and the handrails being a bit too chunky, it's a really good little model, perfectly captures the heft of the real thing.

4 wheels and outside cylinders. What more do you want? :scratchhead:

I'm not sure how you define reliable,

Able to go round and round a display layout for seemingly ever.

I asked in Modelzone why they always used Hornby 0-4-0Ts on the demo layout and I was told because they don't break down as often as more complex ones!
