What is happening?

 

It's the fourth day of the New Year and the Domestic Overlord, is allowing me to spend time modelling, (I know that might make it sound like I have to ask permission to be allowed to do some modelling but if that the case its not true. Just like pocket money I am allowed a weekly allowance, and as long as I don't exceed this Domestic harmony ensues :))

 

Anyway because I'm a good Boy, we went the a local retailer of White goods, bought the new washing machine, especially for me to use, plumbed it in, got rid of the old one at the tip and then I prepared a roast dinner. Whilst dinner was cooking I spent some more time on the Ivatt Class 4 conversion I have been working on over that last week or so.

 

Which brings me onto the title of this blog, it not a reference to the after effects of eating too many Sprouts over the Christmas period, but to the fact that I thought I better get working on the tender.

 

Because I am using the over length generic farish chassis, and I believe a Langley white metal tender (remember my Ebay STD4 purchase) I thought I may be able to produce something passable, if I don't like the results when I have finished I may look at another option.

 

Anyway work so far, has been centred on working on the tender cab to get the rough profile right, though I need to spend a little more time on the shape of the roof, it appears to have a slight slant to it which I am not happy about. It also appears to be slightly too high, but this could be fixed if I re-profile the locomotive roof a little (yet another job to complete).

 

Work on the actual locomotive has been really slow, though I have managed to add the lip to the chimney, and have cut out some parts to fit behind the buffer beam to fill in the chassis gaps but not fitted them yet. One big job if you look at the tender, is the coal bunker shape needs to be altered quite considerably.

 

So as you can see there is still a lot to do, I wonder if I will have enough modelling allowance left to complete this :)
