There doesn't seem to have been anything on here about this show so far, so I though I would mention it and see who's going.

Details are at

Last year (2014) we took Harton Gill. A great show.

For 2015 we are taking Falcon Road TMD. The story of the building of this layout can be found by searching on its name in the 'Layouts' section.

Cheers

Dave

Cant wait.

Lets hope there's no engineering work on the line through Abbey Wood this year?

Not exactly but....

Saturday - no trains at Waterloo East or Charing Cross

Sunday - no trains London Bridge-Charlton via Greenwich; Cannon Street trains diverted to Charing Cross so won't stop at London Bridge

Travelling from Canada Water to Woolwich Arsenal via the Jubilee Line/DLR so it looks o.k.

That bus ride last year from Woolwich Aresenal through Plumstead was rather tedious - https://maps.google.co.nz/maps?ll=51.485691,0.101645&spn=0.000003,0.004128&t=m&z=19&layer=c&cbll=51.485654,0.101814&panoid=afEWAAwIbwJBNpT1s9c9iA&cbp=12,143.99,,0,0

FYI - The link on my previous post (9) was to illustrate the tedious bus journey on the 180 from Woolwich Arsenal last year due to engineering works east of Plumstead rather than that for the exhibition itself that you have kindly re-posted .

With respect, the link I posted was not intended to do anything other than to illustrate the layouts on show and was a response to the link in post#1. The reliability of public transport is always an issue and it's always a good idea to be wary of the claims of public transport enthusiasts.

The timetable for 9-ish departures from Waterloo is http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/combinedmatrix.aspx?Command=TimeTable#Journey/LONDON%20WATERLOO/ERITH/24/01/15/09/15/Dep//////Dep/1/0//

The railway station doesn't seem to be too far away http://www.bing.com/maps/?FORM=MMREDR#Y3A9NTEuNTUyODk4fi0wLjI5NTUwMCZsdmw9NiZzdHk9ciZlbz0wJnE9REExOCUyMDREVw==

Home from setting up Ashbury.

Travel over the weekend:

Saturday - train to Abbey Wood then 180, 401 and B11 bus to Bexley Academy. On return, the B11 has a different stop to the 180 and 401.

Sunday - I think there are no trains through London Bridge, but check. If so, Blackfriars or Victoria to Lewisham and change if necessary to Abbey Wood.

I was there with our layout (St Michael & All Angels, Wilmington) and felt the show went very well today.

We always had people around the layout, enjoyed many great conversations and ran a whole lot of varied stock.

I would highly recommend a visit tomorrow as there is a wide mix of layouts in scale & style - enough to ensure everyone will find something to enjoy - as well as plenty of traders too and if nothing else the Lego layout in the conference room has to be seen to be believed ! !

Looking forward to tomorrow for round two :)

I drove there from Essex Thurrock area, through the Dartford Tunnel/Crossing, no problems, took about 40 minutes each way.

A good show I thought but an emphasis on Quantity (of layouts) over Quality, or was it just me (compared to previous years when I have attended). Of the "35+"  layouts there were only a few finescale 4mm layouts which interested me (apologies to all 2mm fans who had several layouts which I briefly admired and moved on, sorry).

It would also I thought have been helpful to have a plan/map of the venue included in the program rather than references to the various areas or rooms of the building which were difficult to find beyond the main "Business Court" area.

This is not to say I enjoyed my visit today.  Hopefully my comments will be taken as "positive criticism".

Regards,

Brian.

I went on Saturday and I was very disappointed. Too many electrical traders and too many car boot traders including two who were selling second hand pulp fiction. In addition too many 2mm layouts for my taste (many of these were pretty ordinary) and too few good in 4mm. The venue is extremely untidy for a show with exhibitors all over the place and the car parking was a serious issue with a shortage of spaces and no visible marshallers. The front desk people were very friendly though, which goes a long way to mitigate the other issues

I bought a couple of items from Invicta and stayed for about an hour. I probably won't go back next year: sorry.

Regards
