A quick and slightly silly question:

Apart from Mk3s on HSTs and the East Anglia lines, is there any other manual slam door stock still running on the network today?

Theres a 122 (?) bubble car on Chiltern. Then theres all the Charter Mk1/2s, the Queen of Scots rake (including the LNWR timber bodied kitchen car).

Scotrail run a loco-hauled set on the Fife Circle, only once or twice a day I think.  And just announced that DRS will be running loco-hauled in place of DMUs on the Cumbrian Coast as part of a sort of reverse cascade to replace the 170 units that Chiltern grabbed from Transpennine.

Ones I can think of

British Pullman, Pullman cars

Northern Belle, Mk 2 and 3

Royal Scotsman (land cruise train) Mk1 Pullman and Mk3

DRS Mk2 Loco hauled serivces for Abellio Greater Anglia (Norwich to Yarmouth I think)

Arriva Trains Wales Mk3s for the WAG express, Cardiff to Holyhead, and I think Cardiff to Manchester now.

The Jacobite steam train Fort Bill to Mallaig, Mk1 stock

Scotrail sleepers, Mk 2 and 3 stock

Great Western sleepers, Mk3 stock

Thanks to all for replying. I was generally thinking of timetabled services rather than charters or other specials.

In which case the answer to your original question is pretty much a resounding no, although as has been noted Ariva Trains Wales services between Cardiff and Holyhead via Shrewsbury and Wrexham use a Mk3 + DVT + class 67 setup.

Use of Slam door stock on things like the Aylesbury shuttle, the forthcoming use of a DRS coaches on the Cumbrian coast or on Northern are basically short term solutions to a lack of DMUs which and as such are in a different league to the HSTs, sleepers, GEML or ATW operations.

There's a persistent rumour that Scotrail will possibly run a second set round Fife (as they have done in the past) once the "off lease" turbos go back down south. I think all slam door stock in daily use these days has to have central door locking fitted to stop stupid people falling out.

Scotrail will also be using shortened HSTs during the new franchise.
