RMweb Gold PhilH Posted January 22, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 22, 2015 I thought I'd give a plug for the Mid Hants Railway's optimistically titled Spring Gala - I say optimistically tiltled because as it is happening on 13-14-15th February to my mind it should be called 'The Depths of Winter Gala'.... Anyway if you like getting up close and personal with some big steam locomotives then this will be the place to be. All being well we should be running 7 engines, these being; Standard Pacific 70000 Britannia A4 4464 Bittern WC 34007 Wadebridge LN 850 Lord Nelson Schools 925 Cheltenham 9F 92212 Black 5 45379 I'll be driving on Sat 14th, plus possible owners rep on 13th and 15th (yet tbc) so if you know me please do shout some abuse. RMweb Gold TomE Posted February 14, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 14, 2015 Had a great day down on the Mid Hants on Friday, despite the wind, rain & cold! Fortunately whilst it was pouring it down I was sat in comfort on the Watercress Belle set in Alton waiting for a track circuit problem at Ropley to be cleared so managed to stay dry. Anyway, as usual, some video from the day. I apologise for the wind noise & shakes, but it helps tell just how windswept Ropley was, especially from the yard footbridge! Tom. RMweb Premium Grampus Posted February 14, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 14, 2015 Loved the footage: very jealous of a couple of mates who did manage to get there today. Thanks for posting. Best wishes, Paul
Oakydoke
Great video. Edited well. Why hold this Gala so early on, with the risk of awful weather. Phil's right, Spring Gala indeed!
Guest
My dad and me had planned to go for the whole of Saturday, but my health deteriorated rapidly upon arrival, so we had to cut our visit short by about 3-4 hours. Still, took some footage while I could:
RMweb Gold PhilH Posted February 16, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 16, 2015 I think most enjoyed it, the weather was distinctly Februaryish, big surprise. I had a bit of a boring day on The Friday, just riding up and down on the Brit and A4, Saturday was better though driving 34007 on the freight am (nice now it's got 6 beats instead of 4, a whoosh and a f*rt) and the Brit pm. That's a beast, would like to have let it go a bit, so looking forward to getting out on the mainline with it.
