ozzyo
Hello all, I was watching some telly the other night when an add. for a film studio tour came on, the bit that interested me was that they had 5972? Hogwarts Castle showing on the tour with what look like some Mk1s behind it. The question is did they get a real Hall done up and shipped out, or are these just studio mock-ups? OzzyO. gordon s
I'm guessing it was this place just north of London….Say's the loco and coaches will be real, but I'm not sure what 'real' means. Perhaps they're bringing Olton Hall down from Shildon. Probably be safer in HP World…. http://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk/the-tour-experience/whats-on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GWR_4900_Class_5972_Olton_Hall
Titan
Speaking of 'Shipped out' there were some surprisingly accurate replicas made for the Universal Studios Orlando resort - see here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2582149/All-aboard-Hogwarts-Express-Harry-Potter-theme-park-recreates-train-ride-English-countryside-without-leaving-U-S.html

So it's a replica that's over there. Not one of the non running Halls. OzzyO.
Boris
The website specifically says that it will be 5972 at the exhibit. Not sure about them claiming to have original luggage and platform barrows from the film because a lot of that stuff is still on Goathland station (they hired the steam era barrows/trollies for each film from Goathland) and some of the luggage is in a private collection not a million miles from here.... gordon s
Unless I'm misunderstanding your post, Boris, the website that says it will have the real 5972 Olton Hall is the one for Harry Potter World at Leavesden. Orlando will have replicas.
RMweb Gold big jim Posted February 1, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 1, 2015 The one in orlando is fibreglass!! And as has been pointed out before the lady stood in front of it isn't emma watson!!
Guest
The one in orlando is fibreglass!! And as has been pointed out before the lady stood in front of it isn't emma watson!! While the replica is very well made, by the looks of it, the lack of shed plate makes it look...weird...

So does the shape of the vac pipe and how they have put the smokebox darts, ten to two just too give it a smiley face.
RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted February 2, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 2, 2015 I'm not sure of the current status, but The loco shown is a replica, and I think is less than full size. They seem to have added a train trip to their features, as the Harry Potter world is now in two parts. We haven't been back yet. It is not a studio; it is an amusement or theme park. The butterbeer is worth the trip.
Ed-farms
The one in America is a replica/fake whilst the one in the studios in the UK is the real Olton hall on display for a period of 2 years if I recall.
Chameleon
Must be a pretty good way of earning a wee bit of dosh for the locos next boiler ticket without adding any more wear and tear to it. Wonder if it will be Hogwarts Castle for the foreseeable future?
RMweb Premium Martino Posted February 3, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 3, 2015 The 'one' in the USA is actually at least 2, possibly three. Plus some BR Mk 1 look alikes. I have a photo taken in the back lot. I'll try and find it.
