LENZ Er03. Multiple working problem.

Hi,

A farish loco of mine, fitted with a Bachmann decoder shows 'Er 03' when I try to add it to a multiple working.

The Lenz manual suggests this error message is displayed when "you wish to add a locomotive to a MU whose speed is not 0".

The loco is however very much at a standstill and the speed knob is at its absolute minimum.

Is anyone able to explain what is happening?

Many thanks in advance,

Andy

Does this happen when you are trying to set up a consist?  I would first check that the Bachmann decoder you have does support consisting, because some earlier versions of their decoder don't.

Also where do you see ERR 03?  According to my Lenz manual, it happens during programming and the error is "The command station did not answer programming request"

Yes it happens when i try to pair up two locos but it only happens with one paricular loco and, strangley, it has the same Bachmann 6 pin decoder as a couple of other engines and there's no problem with them. The error message comes up when, after having called up the loco address, I then call up 'MU+'  to add that loco to the consist.

My next thought would be to first try a decoder reset.  If that doesn't work, I would see if changing the loco's address might solve the problem (ie its address in the Lenz command station has somehow become corrupted).
