rossd
Hi New here so hope this post is in the right place. I have a single diamond crossover in a layout I'm building. It is a Peco code 75 electrofrog crossover. I have run the integral wires from the frogs to separate ports on a hex frog juicer but still get "dead spots", where power is clearly not getting to the loco. The problem seems to be accentuated, but not limited to, locos that have a short wheelbase such as 0-6-0 or 0-4-2 tanks. I have fitted insulating rail joiners to the frogs themselves. Any thoughts on whether a Double poll Double throw switch may give better results? I don't understand why it would but am running out of ideas. Any help much appreciated...... Suzie
It may be that your Frog Juicers need pairing and as soon as all the loco wheels are being fed from the frog the juicer is switching the polarity of one of the frogs to the wrong polarity. There are instructions in the manual regarding pairing the frogs with the pairing jumpers to stop this sort of thing happening if you have not tried it already. http://www.tamvalleydepot.com/images/Hex_Frog_Juicer_Manual_v1_5_2p.pdf If the other four outputs are all feeding point frogs you will need to connect your crossing to outputs 5 and 6 and just pair those. If you have a turntable, reverse loop, or another crossing as well fed by the juicer you will need to use pairs 1 and 2 or 3 and 4 and pair those - turntables, reverse loops and crossings all have to be paired. tender
I have a diamond crossing on my double junction which is feed with part of a hex frog juicer. If I remeber correctly there are 4 dropper wires on the PECO diamond, 2 for the frogs and 2 for the inner part of the crossing. These later droppers need connecting to the relevant stock rails. I think I have two links installed as well but these may only be relevant for the double junction. I did this some time ago so may have to go and have a look under the layout to refresh my memory if you get stuck. Ray.
