Always a good exhibition.

Aftnoon all,

Andy Carlson of St. Ruth invited me over to the exhibition and I took the opportunity for a chat with Roundhouse and Eltel of this parish....good to meet you and see the layouts guys. Here are a few visuals of this morning:

Scratchbuilt F.W. Berk bromine demountables from or to Associated Octel at Hayle, in 2mm and on Lowfits....eyebending work, prototypical and outstanding....probably destined loaded for St. Albans, Todmorden or Castleford....empty to Hayle. Knowledgeable observers will also recognise 2 scratchbuilt chlorine tanks on the layout, again serving Associated Octel at Hayle but this time with chlorine from Ellesmere Port....also outstanding work

The arduous journey to Macclesfield was relieved by a brewery stop at Wincle on the return leg. The Old Oak is lovely!!

Supporting the traders with purchases of a P4 Rolling road from Direct Train Spares and Mike King's excellent colour book on Southern coaches/vans. 3 x 600g electronic jewellers pocket scales ordered to work with the rolling road and help create an axle weighing/weight distribution weighbridge

Oh flip, forgot this was on today, my little un has gone to a birthday party near poynton and i could have dropped him off there and visited the show on the way back

Unfortunatly tomorrow will be a no no as its mothers day and im sure my wife wont fancy a trip round an exhibition as 'a treat'!

I'd be interested to see some close up pics of the bromine tanks btw, there was some an interesting thread about them on here that involved me finding the actual real prototype tank stored and then getting hold of the drawings but i dont think the finished modelled product was ever added to the thread

Ian,

Re the bottles

....I had minded to bring them to the exhibition and pass one to each of the 3 layouts which I spent time with but the brewery hadn't opened on the outward journey.

Jim,

Re the bromine tanks

Send Andy a PM....I'm sure that he'll oblige

Shame you couldn't make it Jim, it would have been nice to see you. There are some close ups taken at the 2mm Association AGM on the 2mmSA web site at http://2mm.org.uk/galleries/agm-2014/index.html- you need to scroll down a fair way though.

BTW, we're going to be at the 2mm Expo at nearby Chelford on 20th June. It's open to non members if you fancy popping along.

Regards, Andy

A good show.  Though I mistakenly allowed myself to over indulge of the food.  St Ruth was outstanding and others such Livesy Lane as well.  Appledore's tramway in front of a fiddle yard was an impressive idea.  A low relief street scene with a single track tramway that disappears into a backscene with room for a loco and a couple of wagons off scene.  Meanwhile the long street run has covered the fiddle yard.

The traders were second hand heavy, which is probably reasonable for the market.  One had a boxed Hornby sentinel and a Railroad Ruston next to each other.  The small sentinel just emphasised how oversize the Ruston was.  One problem with the trader mix is that paint was simply not available.  Amazing really.

On behalf of the Ynysybwl crew, I would like to say thanks for the invitation and an excellent show. An important feature for us is the town itself because we aim to have a couple of enjoyable evenings out and Macclesfield did not disappoint. We especially liked The Wharf pub. Of the layouts, one that was really good which has not yet been mentioned is East Grinstead. Some amazing modelling, a lot of scratch building and it is unusual to see early signals modelled.

Also a big thanks to Shaun and all the Macclesfield team for the invite of Alstone Quay.

All the Alstone Quay team enjoyed the weekend at this friendly local exhibition.

Trying to secure a full range of traders that can meet all your modelling needs is very difficult for the Macclesfield size of exhibition.

I have been attending Macclesfield exhibitions for longer than I wish to remember and over the years, the club has always attracted quality layouts in all scales and gauges.

Keep the good work up

Terry

Seemed to be a good turn out at Macclesfield.

Very pleased how Oil Drum Lane performed on my first exhibition outing with it.

Made it along today, nice little show, if somewhat warm in a couple of the halls, had a chat with eltel on oil drum lane and a fellow driver on blue is the colour

Apethorn jn is a beauty and impressed with oil drum lane too

Came away with a Hornby 67 in arriva livery for £75 which I'm happy about, fun and games with the sellers card machine though, couldn't get a signal so I ended up paying by the PayPal app on my mobile phone (which was getting 4G), isn't technology wonderful!

Yes I agree with big jim, nice little show with some nice small layouts too -CSX Rensville and Canal Lane (ex Roger Nichols). Book Law had some very good

reading bargains. Lucky with a cheap 67 tho' -on many of the trade stands prices looked high(ish), even the 2nd hand track. Will definitely go next year.
