Bluebell Model Railway
Hi all require some help on this one.. I have got to the stage with a Stroudley first 4 wheeler, and I would like to paint it in to LBSC Mahogany livery, I have read some ways of achieving this but, from tests I did a few years ago... I wasn't convinced although a Red base primer seemed to be the right direction but using a Phoenix paints colour, North Staffs or something it was, was just too deep red for the colour. So I wondered if anyone had any additional experience or have a solution or know or a way to achieve the livery and with what paints would be great, as I have drawn a blank?RegardsMatt
burgundy
Matt Phoenix Precision have a colour called mahogany in their range - ref P988. I have one that was mixed some years ago and I spray it over an undercoat of Halfords red primer so that the brown has a reddish tinge. It is also worth playing with some dilute brown ink to run into the corners and some slightly lighter brown dry brushed onto the raised edges, if you wish to represent some slightly weathered stock. Hope this helps Best wishes Eric
