Also a friend of ours is standing for the Monster Raving Looney party.

Half of RMwebbers could easily fulfil that role......................

:jester:

Cheers,

Mick

I've already been Shanghai'd onto our Community (Parish) Council and that is plenty far enough for me.  I have no wish to stand for the Caernarfon Kremlin, Bae Caerdydd or San Steffan.  Dog poo and benches, yes, anything else I'll leave for others.

Oh elections, I was reading it with a Chinese accent.

Or as Benny Hill once asked (in character as a Chinese person) "When was the rast time you had an erection?" ;)

Too far away here and a singular lack of interest in potty-licks at that level to even consider getting off my butt and standing.  But a former university acquaintance regularly does so on behalf of the You Kip mob.

I've still got my British citizenship so maybe I could stand. A few speeches in 'strine' (the Australian version of English) should confuse the voters sufficiently to at least get my deposit back!

My Platform:

Compulsory education in the history of rail transport and the benefits for the country.

Tax breaks for those who bulid model layouts.

Removal of VAT on model railway related products.

Free rail transport to anyone who can list the full names of all GWR CME's to the ticket office clerk.

Definitely not standing although I've been trying to persuade an old school mate to stand (I think he's going for a council vacancy instead hoping to win back his old seat).   The stuff on tv gets all too boring but having canvassers at the door can get quite entertaining although By-Elections seem much better for that, I doubt we'll get Theresa May visiting us this time round.

I am in for District but strictly to provide voters with the option and thus perhaps add a few votes for our Parliamentary candidate. Actually being elected to such a deadweight authority would be grim.

I am standing down from Town. Four years completely wasted there.

Edit to add: I was a Parliamentary candidate in 2005.

Just wondering if any RMwebbers are standing in the forthcoming local and national elections?

Nothing political - just out of curiosity.

Seems like a good time to remind you of Peter's original posting - keep your political thoughts to yourself or risk having the topic locked . . . . . .
