squeaky
Yes you are correct I need to change it a little from the kit,I have a few detail parts but I don't have any AC units, are unit models back up and running? This is going to be the reception side of the building, the right hand door will be public desk. What about bars on the windows? The only roof vents I have are these and the the kit ones are just domes. Edited August 30, 2016 by squeaky
squeaky
I thought I'd better get some more work done on this and hopefully have it near completed before the Devon Freemo in May. First I have "planted" the bailers, I did this by cutting around the shape of the base in the balsa wood and then half filling with plasticard. They then sit partly out of the ground which gives it a more planted look. I have also been working on one of the locos I bought new last April. I fitted an ESU decoder but just couldn't get it to run without stuttering and stalling. I tried everything, replaced the wires from trucks to board, cleaned everything still the same! So I put it to one side and thought what a waste of £130 and I'm not buying another Athearn loco again! So I thought I would try and fit a capacitor to improve the stalling and it worked a treat, there was just enough room next to the speaker for a 470uF 16V cap as below. Still plenty to do........................
long island jack
I would fill those holes in the speaker and any hole where the wires are, a bit of blue tack will do the job, will improve the sound no end Ray Edited February 21, 2017 by long island jack

One thought as you've tried everywhere else - we found on the SW1500s that when dirt builds up on the blackening between the steel plate and brass bearings in the chassis it can affect pickup - might be worth dropping the axles out and cleaning any blackening off the edges of the steel plate. squeaky
I have been working on this for the scrap yard..... I haven't started on the grabber yet which will be the most challenging part!
shortliner
I have been working on this for the scrap yard..... 026rm.jpg I haven't started on the grabber yet which will be the most challenging part! ....and a right little pigs orphan bitch it is too! After many blue words and re-putting back together multiple times, I glued mine in an open position on the ground level, with the arm in a suitable position - it also means you don't need an operator in the cabin. squeaky
This Freemo layout has been used a few times at Freemo events and has worked OK. However when it was built the ends were not quite built to the correct standard. It didn't meet this requirement "The tracks must be at 90 degrees to the module end and continue for 6” straight from the module end. " In view of this I have started to try and rectify this on the worst end. So first I tried pulling up the track and re-fixing it... That didn't give me 6" of straight track so I ripped up 8" of track. I then marked 90 degrees to the end and 6" in, as you can see I may need to pull of bit more off..... squeaky
I have had to take more track up in order to get a better flow. I have taken 12" of track off. It will look something like this...
Glorious NSE
I think the biggest issue was that the tracks weren't 90deg when they got to the end (you can see it from those lines above) - meaning there would always be a kink to the adjacent module on the join, plus that angle originally threw the 2" track spacing out on one end as well. The 3" (RST spec) or 6" (NMRA-BR spec) helps ensure that kinks on joins don't happen, and reduces any effect of overhang on longer vehicles.Up to now, I've mitigated the effects by using your module at the end of a branch, but this will make it much easier to use in different positions, so many thanks for the extra work done, it is appreciated.Looking forward to seeing the results at Armitage. squeaky
I have now ballasted the new track. I've also got some paint on the grabber, I went for a rather bright orange that will need a little more toning down.... Some more grass has also grown around the layout. Still plenty to do before September Armitage.......

squeaky
i haven't updated this for quite some time. I have been doing some work on the layout over the last few months, here are some update shots. I've added some ground cover and a few details to the side opposite the scrap yard. I've also started adding people and details Some switch stands Weathering to the fence I've also started painting the sides of the layout "Highland Green" but it's going to need a couple of coats, still plenty to do..... I have also replaced all of the push buttons for larger ones. The original ones were the small push to make that looked like this Not long now until Christow!!!
