airwimp075
I have used the MCDU on my layout. It is very simple to set up and use and comes with its mains powersupply making it ideal for me as i didnt have an alternative power supply available. The MCDU was discussed briefly on the link below. Hopefully it will help clear up one of the 2 products you have asked about. crompton 33
The first one listed is mainly used by people who build there own control panels. My advice is to get the second one listed unless you are OK with building your own control panel.
BG John
I got an MCDU for Ingletyme for simplicity. It's not wired in yet, but I've used it to test a few point motors as I wire them up. I will be firing two Peco, or one Peco and one SEEP, at the same time.
RMweb Premium Silver Sidelines Posted April 20, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 20, 2015 If you have a half decent controller with a 16vAC outlet for accessories then you need only spend £10.and buy the simple CDU. If your controller doesn't have a 16v AC outlet then perhaps you need to spend £20 and buy the free standing unit. Peco actually tell you that you don't need a CDU and I managed for thirty odd year with over 100 point motors and no CDU.. However if you want to throw two or more points together, or throw points with switches attached then you are better advised to use a CDU. I came to the conclusion that the switches that you use to operate the points are probably more important than whether you use a CDU. There are some thoughts and pictures on my Blog, here and here. Good luck Ray
RMweb Premium Sidecar Racer Posted April 21, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 21, 2015 I think the OP lives abroad , so maybe a mains unit would not be of the correct voltage . Apologies in advance if I'm wrong about the location .
