Simon Moore
I've found in a box a wheel set for a 1F which is the correct 14 spoke that a J50 would have. A J50 has a 4ft 7 inch diameter wheel 14 spoke & I wondered if the wheel for a Johnson 1f would work. It would save me buying a wheelset if it was. I cannot seem to find any information on the diameter of a johnson 1f. Can anybody help me out. Cheers Simon
Il Grifone
It states 4' 6 1/2" here: http://www.docbrown.info/docspics/ArchiveSteam/loco41708.htm
RMweb Premium Izzy Posted April 22, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 22, 2015 According to my sources the 1F's had 4'6" 14sp IL cranks while the J50's had 4'8" 14sp PB cranks, so apart from the difference in dia the crankpin position is the most obvious one. Depends if you can get the correct ones for the J50 I suppose.... Izzy
Il Grifone
I checked with my Winter 57/58 Ian Allan abc, which states 4'7" for the 1F and 4' 8" for the J50. The pictures in my link confirm PIL 14 spoke for the 1F.

PenrithBeacon
I would think that the difference of 1" was neither here nor there. Go ferrit! Regards
RMweb Premium Izzy Posted April 22, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 22, 2015 I would think that the difference of 1" was neither here nor there. Go ferrit! Regards I agree, but the crankpin position might, dependng on the scale being used and the wheel standards/make involved. Izzy
