Adrian Wintle
My questions are, how, and wheres the track gone to? At least it didnt block the road! Β Presumably that second photo was after they had lifted the damaged track. They probably needed to do that to safely bring in the equipment to move the cars. Β It does look like the road was blocked, but they would have moved that car ASAP. Β Adrian
jonny777
I'm no expert, but I can't quite understand how heavy loaded hoppers like those would overturn after derailing on what appears to be straight track.

Β Adrian Id assume the train was stopped and left there, so Id hope they wouldnt leave a cut of cars blocking a road.
mikjd
I always fancied a UK version of a boxcar or caboose in the garden, but an overturned hopper ..... Β Mick.

Β If one truck derails, the dynamics can tip that car and the couplers can pull others over. Remember that the centre of gravity of those cars is quite high. I'm guessing there wasn't a lot of speed involved since the went over as a set rather than piling up. I'd guess at a broken rail or something similar.
